Afternoon, bluff ends and ledges from 17mm – 19mm and in the evening creek pockets in the Grand Glaize. Shaker Head and Jig were fished on the bottom on bluff ends and the spook was fished at a steady pace over 8-12 feet of water with bait fish.

Fishing Notes

As Ameren turned up the generation today, due to the recent heavy rains at Lake of the Ozarks, I thought I would try the bluff ends on the main channel. Although, this is often a great pattern when running water through the dam, today the fish were just not on the spots that I fished. There were very few fish on my graph on these spots and basically no bait fish. Perhaps it takes a day or two of generation to move the fish onto these locations. After several hours of only one fish on the bluff ends and ledges, I moved to shallow water in the backs of coves and pockets with bait fish. I got bit hits pretty steadily in these areas on the spook and spook Jr., however all of these fish that I actually hooked were on the black super spook. Bait fish and slight wind seemed to be key to this bite. The fish hits came mainly on or just inside of pocket points and creek channel banks, not all of the way back in the pockets or big cove…bait fish and low light – overcast, evening or early morning seem to be the key for this bite. While I had no hawgs today, I had some very nice blow-ups on the spook but did not hook em.
