Fishing Notes |

While I did not fish very much today, only 1.5 hours from 6:30AM – 8:00Am, the top water bite was on. I had several blow ups on the bait but either the fish or me missed, some of the blow ups were quite big and were likely large bass. As I had a short period of time to fish before a clinic that I was delivering at Robins Resort, I worked points and bluff cuts some what quickly and exclusively. The key to the bites were shade, low light and good rocky points working the bait from the bank out to about 12′ of water. The biggest fish I had, probably a 4-5pounder came on a big jig, in shade in a bluff cut on the Crock-o-Gator Jig. This fish came unbuttoned at the boat as it turned quickly and shook the hook. My good friend and best guide on Lake of the Ozarks, Jack Uxa, Jacks Guide Service, reported a good bite yesterday on a white fluke, square bill crank bait in backs of coves early and a good football head jig and shaky head worm on points later in the morning and afternoon. |
