Fishing Notes |
---|
Today I fished in a large cove at the 12mm of the Osage from 3:00PM – 6:00PM. As I just got a new crank bait rod per the recommendation of LOZ bass fishing great, Marcus Sykora, I fished flat secondary points that extend well out to a channel with a deep diving crank bait, while the rod and crank bait felt great and I had confidence with this approach, I only caught a couple of short fish and several white bass. I do think that this pattern can produce well if there are brush piles on the points and better wind. I then moved to my recent reliable pattern, shallow backs of coves and pockets with bait fish. I fished several baits, jig and worm around the docks, but with the overcast sky’s the fish seemed to have wandered off the cover to feed. I caught all of the keeper bass and several shorts with a black KVD Sexy Dawg walking bait. All of the fish came within 25 yards of the last two docks in the cove, in about 4′-8′ of water. I had two large bass come off within 10 feet of the boat….probably a bad hook set on my part. But there is no question that this bite was on today. No pics today as my cameras were both dead, bummer.
