Fishing Notes |
---|
Today, I thought I would see if the bait fish have yet started to come out of the main Osage river channel and up onto bluffs and ledges. While I did see some shad groups, there were not enough on the bluffs that I fished to feel as though this pattern is quite ready yet. I fished a few hours on several bluffs and idled next to them to see if any pattern, depth or contour would emerge, but not much life yet on the bluffs and ledges. I will continue to check this out over the next week or two. I did catch one small keeper off a bluff end on the jig. I then went shallow to the backs of coves, there are tons of small bait fish in most coves now with some holding the bigger gizzard shad. The shad are mostly in the middle of the cove ends, but are starting to spread to the banks and under the docks. I caught most of my fish the last hour today with the topwater walking bait shallow, however nothing big, just one 14′ keeper Kentucky. The fish caught were loose and away from the docks, probably due to the shade and low light. |
