Fishing Notes |
---|
Today I was mostly checking out the dam area for bait fish in the backs of coves thus doing a lot of running versus fishing. I actually fished about an hour. I did not visually see or see on my graph, very big groups of shad in the backs of some of the big coves, as I have seen in the mid lake area and upper lake area. Not that there are not shad in these coves, but the ones I checked did not seem to have big schools. I did see grouped up shad on some of the secondary point, in the middle of these creek channels and off bluffs, but somewhat deep. When I slowed down the exploration, my best bite came from main lake docks with wind on a swim bait. I also caught fish in brush piles along cove docks and on a square billed crank bait shallow on secondary points. The water in the dam area is much clearer than other parts of the lake and the fish are likely still in summer patterns on points and in brush piles. With a cold front scheduled to come in this weekend, brush piles and secondary points could be the best bite. We should have a report tomorrow from the Glaize and mid lake area. |
