Fishing Notes

While I spent over 16 hours on the water this weekend fishing the big bass bash, I could not wait to get back on the water today. However, Dave and I spent most of the day tying off loose ends from the big weekend tournament, therefore, I was only able to get on the water from about 5:30-7:00. After a couple of days of windy and wet weather this past weekend, this evening was beautiful on the water. The wind has laid down, the sun bright all day and the air temperature was ideal. With those conditions, it was easy to see the bait fish once again. The bait fish were high in the water column and were continuing their migration into the coves, creeks and even shallow along creek channels. I had a good bite this evening on the 10′” plastic worm, working it just inside of secondary points, I had a big one break off on me close to the boat (grrrrrrr, gotta check my line closer when fishing the bottom). I also had some good blow-ups in the top water, however, not as many as I would have expected. There were not a lot of visible top water blow-ups on the bait fish. It seems that the bass may have been pushed a bit deeper in the water column after this weekends weather and perhaps fishing pressure.

I plan to be on the water all day tomorrow. My plan is to fish this week from the toll bridge to the dam in preparation for the Alahonna tournament the end of this month,.

If you have any areas, baits, structure, cover that you would like me to check out ahead of a tournament that you plan to fish this weekend, just shoot me an email at bob@bassingbob.com and I will try to check out some areas for you.

Don’t forget to send us your stories and experiences from Big Bass Bash.
