Fishing Notes |
---|
After 5 days fishing at Tablerock Lake with moderate success catching smallmouth bass on the wiggle wart and spinner, it was good to be back on Lake of the Ozarks today. However, after not being on the lake for 5 days it was a day or relocating the fish and bait fish. We caught some short fish in Pogue Hollow cove at the 17mm in pockets off of brush pile and on sea wall with the jig. Then another short fish in around Back Water Jacks cove around docks on the jig. We had several blow ups and chasers on a black buzz bait and spinner most of the day, but the bass just did not seem to want to commit to the bait. The water from the mouth of the Glaize to the toll bridge was stained, maybe some remnants of turnover. We moved to Chimney cove at the 12mm, the water was very clear and we chased the wind and continued to fish what seemed like ideal water around secondary points and around docks, again some chasers but no takers. We also fished some bluff ends with heavy jigs, but not fish. Finally late in the day I was able to catch a couple on main lake points that had wind cranking the DT-10 crankbait. Finally, I ended the day for about 30 minutes in the Pin Oak Cove pockets in the Glaize. I had a few short strikes on the buzz bait and spinner bait. The water in the lower Glaize is quite clear. However, in the Glaize pockets, I was seem significantly more bait fish and bass on my graph in catchable depths. The majority of the day the bait fish and bass seemed to be in the cove channels or near the cove channels and not shallow or high in the water column. There are lots of bait fish surfacing around the condo docks of Parkview Bay in the Glaize. |
