Fishing Notes |
---|
Today it was extremely windy on the lake. I started off trying the A-Rig in anticipation of being a co-angler this weekend and preparing in case my boater plans to throw the A-rig in BFL tournament. I did not have any bites on the A-Rig, however the conditions with the strong winds seemed right to get bit on it. After a couple of hours of heaving the rig, I switched to the bait that I have the most confidence in right now, the jig. I got two small keepers on the jig and a few drum too. I threw the jerk bait for a while also but did not have any bites. The jig bite came close to the banks as has been the pattern for most of this week. The key today to getting bit was fishing chunky rock banks. It seems that when the air is unstable as it has been the last couple of days the fish seem to relate to bigger boulder type of rocks and those are the rocks that I got bit on today. I modified a COG jig by trimming several of the jig strands to give it more a look like a small finesse jig, similar to Dirks Jig that I have had big bites on this week. Green Pumpkin with a bit of orange has been my go to color this week and got bit on that color today as well. |
