Fishing Notes |
---|
Today was my first day back on the lake since BBB Saturday. I got on the lake about 3PM and stopped fishing about 7ish. I am practicing this week for the Anglers in Action Solo Pro Tournament this coming Saturday, ( I am by far not a solo pro, but I thought it would be kind of fun to fish a solo tournament and donate my money to the good fisherman :), maybe I will get big bass :)). So, my plan over the next two days is to fish exclusively in the Glaize from the 1mm – past PB1 about the 13/14mm I think, know this part of the lake the best and for a solo pro, that may be the only strength that I have to compete. The Glaize is warm, the minimum temp I saw today was 53 and a high of 58, 55 seems to be the mean temperature throughout the mid Glaize. The water is very clear, so that kind of made me have to think and analyze baits and colors. So, I planned to try a lot of baits today, which I did. I threw the buzz bait, Carolina rigged lizard, spinner bait, tube, jig, wiggle wart and the jig. My most consistent bite was on Dirks Jig on rock transition banks and secondary points at the backs of coves and inside pockets. I did not have much confidence in the buzz bait and Carolina rig lizard, primarily because I am not sure how effective those baits are in clear water. Send me your comments on that. I did see some areas today with lots of bait fish mostly on shallow flats in the backs of coves and shallow flats near main lake cuts. Fish caught today seemed to be relating to small chunk rock on flats or slightly sloping points. I did see a few swirl/bust on the water today, seemingly bass eating on shad. I shall explore a buzz bait top water bite tomorrow and see if there is something to be made of these swirls and activity that I am seeing on these areas. |
