Fishing Notes |
---|
Today Ben and I fished the Anglers in Action Team tournament trail. This was our fourth tournament in the trail, working to qualify for the championship, which I think we are in pretty good shape with points to qualify as of now. Today we had a weight of 11.11 pounds, while well off the leader of 23.33 pounds, I think that both Ben and I, both average fisherman felt pretty good about our fishing. We had 5 keepers by 11AM, but we could never get any big bites. Our biggest fish was just over 3 pounds, caught in Chimney Cove at the 12mm on the C-Rigged Lizard. We culled once and had a couple of additional small keepers that we did not cull through as they were just 15′ inches. We saw a couple of 4-5 pounders on deep beds, but due to their depth and slight water chop we could not see them good enough to spend much time on them. We caught a couple of our keepers and several shorts on a bank leading into/out of the spawning areas in about 6-8 feet of water. These bites seem to indicate that many bass are done spawning and moving out. However, we saw many small fish on beds and caught fish behind docks in the shadow of the walk ways. I would assess at this point that fish are in all phases of the spawn right now. |
