Fished around Tan Tara today, the 26MM of the Osage targeting spawning pockets and creek channel banks leading in and out of spawning areas. The tube was fished behind docks and the rocky banks around spawning areas and the trick worm was used in and around the spawning pockets and behind shallow water docks.

Fishing Notes

Today was an absolutely beautiful day on the lake to go fishing. After a few weeks of preparing for and fishing tournaments, it was nice to just go fishing today. I have not fished the Tan Tara area for a while so I fought some of the big waves from big boats and took my time to get the 26mm from my home in the Glaize. Two of my favorite and most beautiful coves on the lake are in this area, just past Tan Tara island on the south/west side, one of the coves I call snake cove, because it stakes twice and is fairly narrow. There are a few docks leading into the cove, but as it turns to the right, there are no docks, the cove is very pretty, protected from waves, wind and current. I caught several short fish in this cove, then I fished the narrow cove next too it going up. This cove has only one dock, the bank on the right leading to the shallow back has always produced well for me and today, I caught one nice keeper, just under 3 pounds I guess and several shorts flipping the tube to the rocky banks. I did have a consisted bite throwing the trick worm wacky style today around shallow flat spawning pockets and behind docks, however, my hook ups for these bass on the wacky worm has not been great, I lost a couple of good ones that came off and missed a couple on the hook set too, but they were biting the worm pretty good today.
