Fishing Notes

Rob and I had a fun day fishing today, although it was rainy for most of the day, we fished from 11:00AM – 6:00 PM, our best and most consistent bite came when it was raining and then the bit disappeared when in stopped raining. The rain also seemed to keep the big boat traffic down a bit. As we have been fishing in and around spawning pockets and docks mostly this past week, Rob and I decided to focus on something different today. We fished main points and secondary points that were gently sloping, our best bites came from just inside the points on the banks leading to the points not right on the point itself. After some good success fishing the points we ran up the Glaize just past LORA to see if the fish were on the ledges yet. We caught 3 keepers and about 10 bass on the ledges, mostly around the subtle/small bluff pockets that had some lay downs and big rocks with a bit of shallower water, not the shear drop off bluffs. The tube on Fitz Keeper Head had the most bites on the bluffs while the Dirks jig had the most bites around the points.
