Fishing Notes

Just as I got on the water this afternoon about 3:30, the rain started. Which was no problem as the rain has been good for the bite lately. However, that did not materialize today for me, overall fishing for me this afternoon was really not very good. As I am not practicing for a tournament, I fished several areas today that I have never fished, tried to change things up a bit throwing a swim bait, crank bait and a small worm on small shaker head in shallower water and brush piles. The spots that I fished did not show much in the way of bait fish, which has been a key factor recently to getting bit on points. I did some practicing with my Humminbird 360 imaging, trying to tune it to best find brush piles and deep rocky rough bottoms. So I did a lot of experimenting today and the results were pretty poor. The one good keeper I caught (sorry no pics as my mounted camera was stored out of the rain and my cell phone buried under my rain gear), came on a main lake bank stretch between two points. It was probably pushing 3 pounds and was caught in about 20′ of water.

I did run into BB Member Rick Gagliano today at Fitz Fishing, he indicated that he had some morning success catching some good ones off main lake points from Tan Tara area to the Glaize in about 20′ of water and that his daughter caught a lot of fish and some good ones fishing with a fluke and wacky style senco. Thanks for sharing your info with us Rick.
