Fishing Notes

This afternoon I got on the water about 2:00 with the intent to mark some deep brush piles up the Glaize from the 6mm to the 9mm as I planned to fish this area in the Wednesday night tournament. I marked brush on my graph for about and hour, then I fished a small cove for thirty minutes flipping the worm around the shade of docks and caught a small keeper and a short. I then fished the Wednesday night tournament solo, take off was at 6:30 and weigh in at 10:00. I worked brush piles and docks til about 8:00 without a single bite other than a big flat head catfish, which had me pretty excited for a minute, but as it never surfaced, I knew it was not a bass. My first bite came at about 8:00, a short fish in about 6′ of water. I continued to then focus on the points in that area, with a few more short fish caught. About 9:15, I caught a 3 pounder in a log jam in bluff cut. That was all I was able to boat. I got off the water about 9:45, knowing that one 3 pounder was not going be enough for the tournament. It seemed to be a tough night for all of the great anglers that fish the tournament, no limits and even 3 fish got a check. Tough day and night on the water.
