Today I was lucky enough to go fishing with the great legend Bill Davenport! I met Bill at 6am at Mcdonalds and i have to say i was a little nervous going with a fisherman of his caliber. Bill and I put the boat in at about 6:30 am are main target for this morning was going to be brush piles and windy points. The first spot we went to bill sets the hook right away on a solid fish, and i was like oh boy i hope i catch some fish today, for i wanted to do well with a legend in the boat!! Then It came about 5 mins after bill caught his first fish i set the hook on a small keeper! It kinda relaxed me a little to get that first fish out of the way.Bill and I continued on fishing brush and windy points with the Davenport Special jig. Every spot we went to we pulled at least two 4 to 5 pounders off of. I was in aw… I couldn’t believe the day we were having and we had only been out for an hour or so. The next spot we went to I will never forget. I threw the jig out there and got bite right away, I set the hook and was in the fight of my life!!! I pulled the fish up and it was by far the biggest fish ive ever caught… Bill said “son that there is a unit”!!! he also said that he thought the fish was pushing 8 pounds…..WOW what a fish. Our afternoon came to an end due to big boats, but wow what a day. I will never forget the day I fished with Bill Davenport!!! what a great man and fisherman. I hope to have more days with him on the water!! |
