Fishing With Legend Vern Jaycox

North Shores, Brush piles, and Deep Structure

Tonight I was lucky enough to go fishing with yet another legend Vern Jaycox!!! Vern and I Hit the water at about 6:45 pm. Vern was unsure if we would get many bites because of the cool front that moved in plus we didnt have much wind at all.So we went to the first spot on the north shore and both threw our black and blue power worms in the brush, my first cast of the evening i set the hook on a solid 3.5 to 4 pounded!! I looked at vern and said well they might be biting and he said well boy you might have got the only bite we will get tonight!! Boy were we wrong every spot we went to we caught fish!! mainly in the brush. Vern and i ended up catching 9 keeping fish and a bunch of shorts. 3 of our keepers were above 3 pounds and the rest were around 2-2.5 pounds. What a fun night Vern has become a very good friend of mine since ive moved here and i feel blessed to have him take me out and teach me things about these fish that ive never known. This was one of my favorite nights fishing ever!! We ended the night searching for new spots around 10pm and we found one good one and vern told me to throw my worm in there i bet theres a fish in there!! so i did so and im not kidding as soon as it hit the brush i felt the bite and set the hook, i was in a good battle with the fish then my dang line broke!! vern said son you just learned a lesson, if your fishing brush all night you have to at least re tie once!!!! what a night i look forward to fishing with my friend Vern Jaycox again!!!!
