Fishing Notes

Today was a great day on the water with my dad Bassing Bob!! though we didn’t catch a lot of fish we had a fun afternoon searching for shallow fish and teaching me some new areas around my home on the 23mm. Since i have moved down here i have not ventured to all areas of this great lake yet, so today i covered a few more areas of it. My dad is familiar with these spots so it was great to have his knowledge and input on these areas. We started around Tan Tara fishing deep brush, with the blue sky’s , no wind, and hardly any ripples in the water we knew it would be a tough day today!! Boy were we right!! WE continued on past Tan Tara to a few coves to try to catch bass sitting under docks. Docks are a great place to resort to on days like these, we focused on docks halfway to all the way back in coves. With not much luck under the docks I was able to catch a few small keepers dragging and hoping a brush hog behind the boat! about midway through the day dad and i turned into another cove as we were idling back we noticed the white bass started busting shad at the surface. It was amazing i have seen this before but not as many of whites we saw on this afternoon, they were halfway to all the way back in the cove splashing all around us for what seemed to be about 10 minutes, and of course you know we threw our top water baits in and caught at least 15 of them!!! every cast they would bite!! In conclusion of the day the fishing wasn’t great but I had a great time learning new areas of the lake with my dad!! We also got to witness an awesome sight together.
