Fishing Notes

This second day of the Big Bass Bash, I fished with my new good friend, David Brcic, Bassing Bob member and former professional soccer player and STL soccer hall of famer. Dave decided to fish the BBB with me after some friendly persuasion from me. Well, it just did not work out too good. We really fished hard however, early on we fished some banks and points in the lower Glaze with the buzz bait, we had only one blow up. Then we moved to the mid Glaze area and threw bottom baits and crank baits on some banks with deep brush piles, while my graph was showing plenty of fish we just could not buy a decent bite. We then moved back to the lower Glaze targeting some brush in bluff cuts, Dave caught a nice fish, but on the scales it was just short of 3 pounds. We finished the day fishing brush piles in a cove, with only a couple of short fish. While this day did not work out for a big one, we went for the risk reward pattern, we diligently stayed with fishing deep off the shore brush piles, which are mostly behind most fisherman fishing the banks, hoping that a big one would bite in these 15′-25′ brush piles. Unfortunately that bite did not happen. While I was disappointed that I could not get Dave or me on a big one, I really enjoyed fishing with Dave. I think that Dave understood and I really appreciated his attitude, that we were fishing for that one big bass and thus we fished a bit differently than fishing to catch numbers. I had a great time fishing with Dave and hopefully he will join me in the future for some LOZ bass fishing.
