Fishing Notes

Today Wayne and I took off from the PB2 about 7:15, with somewhat of a plan, however, the fishing has been tough, so our plan was to start off working main lake points, bluffs and docks, then move to the backs of some coves to check out shallow docks. We started off on a main point at the 2mm with a couple of good blow-ups with the Zara Spook and a couple of short fish in the jig. We proceeded all the way to the dam and worked some long marina docks, with a keeper (14″) Kentucky on a senco but all fish in this tourney needed to be 15″. Our first keeper came about 10:30 on a buzz bait in the back of a large cove with lots of bait fish, our second keeper a 15″ incher. Our next keeper came just inside of a main lake point on some rough rock with a jig in about 25′ of water about noon. Our third keeper our best fish of the day a 3 pounder was caught in the very back of a cove with loads of bait fish at about the 10mm on the white spinner bait. We fished the back of this cove for a couple of hours, flipping docks, working shallow flats and secondary points without another bite. We finished with just under 7 pounds, the winning weight was over 17 pounds and checks paid for 13 and 11 pounds. Fishing was tough, but for me personally it is always a great experience and a lot of fun fishing with the “Great Wayne” Wayne Fitzpatrick. Congratulations to everyone that won, competed and caught fish, fishing was tough today!!
