Fishing Notes |

Today I got on the water about 10:00AM and fished until just before 4:00PM. One of my objectives today was to find and mark about 7 brush piles that I sank a couple of months ago. I miss-marked these piles when I first sank them but now that Terry Blankenship helped me get my 360 imaging tuned and taught me what I am looking at, I wanted to revisit these piles. I did find about 5 of them, they are in the upper Glaize area. However that area of the lake is just not fishing well for me and I caught no fish after about 2 hours working a 10″ plastic worm and jig in the brush. Then I moved to the mid Glaize and started working main lake points into the first secondary point with big rocks, winging the buzz bait where there was shade and the spinner with no shade. The first bite I got was on a secondary point with shallow big rocks in the sun with slight chop. I thought my spinner got hung up in the rocks and as I tried to un do it, my line started moving directly toward the boat, I tried to catch up with it and set the hook, I saw the fish just under the surface and it was a big one, so I step down to my well to lip it, as I reached down to lip it, it jumped and threw the spinner bait. I was bummed out, as it was a really good fish. It must have been sitting in the sun on the rocks in 1-2′ of water. I then went to condo docks in Lazy Days as I have had some recent success finding brush piles with my 360 imaging around condo docks. I caught several fish, not in brush but on the corner end of the docks, shade and a bit a chop seemed to be the key. I caught these fish on a Crock-o-Gator buzz bait and wacky yum dinger (senco like worm). I also caught a small keeper on a spinner bait in a small bit of shade made by a tree close to the bank. Overall I think the fish are starting to bite better now that we have had some cooling weather and colder nights. |
