Fishing Notes

Today Dave and I fished the USA Bassing tournament, we started out at 7:30 with high hopes and confidence that we would catch a nice bag after a couple of hours yesterday produced some nice keepers. We were in run and gun mode, we fished 5 spots in 45 minutes to start the morning, however other than a couple of shorts we really did not have any big strikes. We figured the bass were just not there yet and biting so we went to some condo docks where fish always live, fishing the walls and banks on the back end of the docks. On the first set of docks I got a 6.64 pounder to bite, he was right on the sea wall. We later went back to the main lake area fishing water that had slack wind, point to point for 3-4 hours fishing the point into the first dock, with only a few shorts one small keeper that came undone at the net and another keeper that I pulled the buzz bait out of its mouth on hook set. We then started working the side of the lake with the very strong wind hitting it, Dave had a good one throw the spinner bait just before getting it to the boat, we caught one more keeper on the spinner and that was it. We had lots of short fish and white bass but we just could not get 5 good ones in the boat. Overall a fun day and we never lost confidence down to the last 15 minutes that we would catch more big ones.
