Fishing Notes

This chilly morning we started out doing a video shoot with Bill Davenport on his expertise on sinking, strategic placing and fishing brush piles. Todd shot some awesome video of Bill and along with Robbie will be another educational video. After video shooting, Todd and I got on the water around 1:30. We started in Glaize as we saw some shad surfacing near a point. We fished that point and had one blow up on the buzzbait and a few cast later caught a 3+ pounder on a swim bait. There was no wind and mostly sunny so we targeted any shaded banks we could find with large rock. We had a few more blow ups on the buzzbait in the Glaize and a couple shorts. The next stop was inside, shaded main lake points down the bank 50 yards or more. We had bites or buzzbait misses on just about every stretch of these banks with big busted up rock. We fished similar areas with more Bluffy type banks just inside the points without any bites. The bass seem to be relating to the busted up rock much more than the ledges and bluffy banks. The fish were caught in about 3-6 feet of water and not right on the bank. Perhaps with the water temperature dropping from 60 to 55 in one day or the calm sunny day we had, the bass were slightly backed off the banks. It was great to fish with “Psycho Bass Monkey” Todd Barnes and hear all his “psycho” stories video shooting Bassmaster Elite anglers, how to videos and much more.
