I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was awesome. I visited my very sick and dyeing dad, he is 90 years old and he has had a great life, big family and loved to fish. I had had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with my 3 wonderful kids, son/daughter in laws and my 9 grandkids. Two full helpings of Thanksgiving fare and I was out like a light at 8:30 last night and on the road back to the lake this morning at 6:00AM. I got on the water today about 11:00, within the first hour, I caught a 7.9 pound giant. While I do not the think the pictures show its size very well, the scale did not lie. That fish was my biggest ever on Lake of the Ozarks. After catching that big one, I immediately left that area and ran to several other locations on the water. As I am fishing a tournament tomorrow and Sunday, I really did not want to stick another giant or even a big fish. So, the rest of the day I slowed down and fished a heavy jig on bluffs, a finesse jig around docks and a medium jig in brush piles. I mostly fished flat shady water with the jig and caught 3 more small keepers and some short fish. I sure hope that I did not put the fishing whammy on me for catching a big one the day before a tournament. Dad, “the big one was for you”!!!! |
