Fishing Notes

Today I had high expectations to get some good bites. After a few days of overcast sky’s declining water temperatures and heavy generation from the Dam, I thought that today would set-up much better with low generation, sunny sky’s and fishing in 40 degree water temp. However, the results were not good. Perhaps the slightly stained water in the area that I fished were the culprit. I stayed in only two medium sized creeks the majority for the time I fished, which was from 2:00PM – 5PM. I decided to fish around the entire cove as there are many creeks coming into this cove and it is not overly big, my hope was to try to establish some pattern of where the fish are holding. Unfortunately, I did not see a lot of bait fish in these two coves and that is something that I believe is very important this time of the year. I did however see some broken up balls of bait fish, which should indicate feeding bass. But they must have been full, because I only had two short fish on the jerkbait. I did fish the jig occasionally, but no takers on the jig today.
