Fishing Notes |
---|
Today I got on the water about 2:00 and fished until just after 5. The day was not ideal from a conditions perspective, it was sunny and the water was totally flat, everywhere. I started out fishing a bait that Wayne suggested that I try, a white tube on Waynes Keeper Head in white, see pic. The tube when dragged or slightly hopping, slowly stroking looks like a dying shad. So I targeted schools of bait fish near the bottom that appeared to have fish on it, see graph pic. On one school of shad I caught 3 short fish, the tube does work when worked in this way. I then moved to some other coves/steep banks and worked the stick bait, jig and tube without a bite for over an hour. Then I moved a bit further back in one of the creeks/coves and fished a flat with a lot of brush and in 30 minutes I caught 4 keepers, working the jerk bait rather fast and fan casting the flat. One keeper weighed exactly 4 pounds, another just under 5 and two that were just over 15″. These fish seemed to be holding in brush about 6′-8′ deep. |
