Fishing Notes |

Today I fished the Joe Bass tournament with “The Great Wayne” Fitzpatrick. We both did some pre-fishing for the tournament this past week. At our first stop near the Lodge of Four Seasons, the graph was lit up like a Christmas tree with bait fish and bass seemingly all around us. We caught 3 keepers by 8:00AM, two that were barely over 15″ and one 3.5 pounder. These fish all came on a stick bait. It seemed as though we could have had a limit by 9. We caught a few more short fish there and then moved to another spot.. The next spot had a lot of fish and bait fish during practice, but the fish apparently were crappie as we caught a few crappie. Then we moved to a spot that last week I caught a 4 pounder and 5 pounder, we caught several short fish in that area and Wayne caught a nice KY on the A-Rig. . Then a cold front moved in about noon and the bite totally quit on us. We finished with 4 keepers and only 8.08 pounds and finished in 9th place. My son Rob and his partner won the tournament with 18.08 pounds fishing the lower end, catching them on jerk bait and A-Rig. |
