Scouting For Tourney Sunday

27mm, Upper Niangua and Hurricane Deck bridge area, fishing bluff cuts, secondary points, backs of coves and last creek channel banks.

Today was a practice day to find some patterns/spots for the Anglers in Action tournament on Sunday, which I will be fishing with The Great Wayne Fitzpatrick. Wayne and I have practiced from Linn Creek to Ha Ha Tonka to the 70mm of the Osage. So we are still working out a game plan. Today I had my hooks covered, so I was not setting the hook on any fish, with the exception of one stick bait caught fish. It is difficult to not wanna set the hook on the fish and difficult to know the size of the fish as well. I conservatively had at least two big bites, maybe a few more keepers and many what felt to be shorter fish on the jig. My best bites today came on and around the last secondary point of major/big coves/creeks and in bluff cuts. Most bites today were from the bank out to 8-10′ of water. There is a lot of bait fish that are on the surface toward the backs of coves and the bite today seemed to be best when those bait fish were close to the banks. This last secondary point and into the backs of the coves shallow is a bit of hit or miss. Today I fished 5 such creeks along with a couple of bluff cuts and I only had bites in two of these spots/locations.
