Fishing Notes

Today Wayne and I practiced for 5 hours for our tournament on Sunday. We started fishing about 10am and got off water about 3:00. Neither Wayne or I will be able to fish again until Sunday, so trying to figure something out today was pretty key. Considering that, we could not have had a worse day to get started since we had heavy thunderstorms yesterday and last night. We had no idea if the river area would have gotten muddy, cold, etc. We had that experience last year, when we got em good one day in practice, two days before a tourney, then a cold front came through and we could only scratch out two keepers on tournament day. Since we know that we have three days, including today of what should be good weather and better water, we fished river area to see how bad if anything the rain affected the fish. While the water was definitely a bit colder and a bit more stained, we got 5 good keepers in the 5 hours we fished. Early we saw the fish suspending and hanging over brush piles off the banks, we caught two keepers working those fish. As the sun came out and started to warm things a bit, we caught three more keepers, with the best coming tight to a laydown. As I will not be on the water again til Sunday, due to my grandsons first communion Saturday, please submit your fishing reports if you get out on the water.
