Fishing Notes

Today i hit the water today with Jack Uxa. We put in about 10am at PB2. Jack and my intentions were to bass fish for a little bit then go crappie jerkin the rest of the day. We fished the glaze catching a few bass then we switched to crappie. The wind was really gusty today, with MPH reaching up to 20. We targeted some shallow pea gravel banks a some bluffy rock as well. It seemed the bites we did get came off pea gravel in shallow water. Jack and i got on on spot where th boat was in 8 foot of water and we were throwing up to the bank reeling in the Shadalicious bait back real slow. We caught about 6 crappie using this retrieve off one spot. We noticed that the crappie were just off the bank in about 3 foot of water. We wanted to check out if these crappie were moving up towards the spawning areas. Its proof that some are but jack and i also think there is still a good deep bite for catching these crappie. Real soon here a majority will move shallow. We felt like we were just getting started when the dark clouds started rolling in. I heard from my wife that hail was in the forecast so jack and i pulled out of the water in the nick of time. after about 20 minutes it stared down pouring and lighting.
