Fishing Notes

The big fish seem to run away from my boat on tournament days. After catching some very nice fish last week, my brother-in-law Steve Jamison and I just could not get a big bite either day of the Big Bass Bash. The most excitement we had was when a 5′ gar ran into my C-Rig line and started to run, I thought I had a donkey as he made an initial giant splash, which tangled it up in the my line that we eventually had to just cut off the bait. On Saturday I had a bass that on my scale was exactly 3.0 pounds, but decided to only weigh it in for the exact weight prize if we caught a 5 pounder to go along with it. On Sunday, I had 4 keepers in about 45 minutes fishing a finesse jig on a long creek channel bank, but the biggest was just under 3 pounds, I could have used those keepers last weekend in the FLW BFL. Congratulations to the many Bassing Bob members that cashed checks this weekend. We will be interviewing many members that cashed checks and will have an article on the web site soon with the baits, locations, structure and stories from the Big Bass Bash.
