Where have the Crappie gone? I went out with Vern today about 10:30. We headed back to the Glaze where we were able to catch quite a few crappie last week. The past couple days we have had a bit of a colder front come through that really pulled these crappie off the bank. Today warming up a bit i was hoping we could get a good bite on the pea gravel banks in the spawning pockets. Well the crappie just haven’t got back on the bank yet. The past two days this pattern for me has just not worked. Vern and i managed to catch a few nice ones but there was never multiples on the bank. We fished the lower glaze from the 1mm to the 2mm. I do have some good news!!! Wayne owner of Fitz fishing and our buddy Jim Verhoef have been catching the crappie really well in the evening. I have not tried this but anxioud to do so. They caught about 50 last night fishing over the top of brush from 10-20 feet down. Using a crappie jig called Stinger Shad i will add a phoyo of it at the bottom. They caught all there fish from 6-8 pm. Jim actually caught one Giant crappie that i will also add a photo of. If anyone else has recent reports please do share!! thanks guys!! |
