Today after working on advertisement for the new fishing news magazine coming out June 1st i was able to get out about 3:30pm. Due to Bob spending his whole day in the dentist chair, it was up to me to get a bass report!! So i headed out with Lay downs on the mind!! Dad said he had a good day flipping lay downs yesterday so i thought id give it a go. I targeted lay downs on the first channel bank leading into a cove. We have spent so much time hitting the spawning pockets as of late it was nice to switch it up a bit. The first lay down i hit i caught a nice KY keeper probably only 13inches but had a big belly. When i target theses lay downs i like to throw past the log then slowly bring my bait up to it and drag it slowly over the log. This way you wont scare whatever is learking beneath the log. I moved on tho the next tree in the water and ran my spook over the top of it and got a GIANT explosion but no hook up. This is also a way i like to break down lay downs. Approach it with the spook first then throw the worm in there. My afternoon was then cut short. I had to take Bob to the train station. He is going to STL to see the newest member of our family!! My little sister had a baby girl last week. Bob will be back tomorrow night. |
