Fishing Notes |
---|
Today my 8 year old grandson Landen and I got on the lake about 3 and fished until 6. Landen landed a short but nice bass on his second cast on a green pumpkin finesse worm worked slowly on the bottom, and rigged on a 3/8 oz Crock-o-Gator swim bait head, Landen was so thrilled to get a quick bite. Today we focused on fan casting spawning pockets, sitting in about 10 feet of water, we had a few bites on that approach, a couple of small keepers. Then we worked some extremely windy points, with the wind crashing right in on the point. Landen hooked what was likely a 4+ pounder on the spinner bait, but the bass jumped and threw the spinner back at us, Landen and I are working on hook sets :). After a few more points and pockets catching a few bass on the jig and finesse worm, we moved to a very large protected pocket by my condo docks, we caught 7 bass including 4 small keepers. There are bass in all phases of the spawn right now, the post spawn bass are getting on secondary and main lake points, the last stages of pre-spawn and spawning bass are on shallow beds and/or roaming the shallow spawning pockets. Tomorrow and Wednesday they are forecasting heavy generation through the dam, the main lake and secondary points and bluff ends bite should be checked out and could be very good. My son Rob reported having a good bite this evening on a finesse jig fished around docks mid way back in coves and on the zara spook just before dark, including a nice 4-5 pounder. |
