Targeting areas around main lake and secondary points in the lower Glaize.

This evening Rob and I fished the Thursday night tournament out of PB2. This is a really fun tournament with a 3 fish limit, take off at 6:30 and weigh-in at 10:00PM. After a pretty good night of practice on Wednesday night Rob and I decided to stay in the lower Glaize and target secondary points and the banks leading out of spawning pockets. Rob committed to the spook while we had light and caught about 4 small keepers and some shorts. I caught a good 3.5 pounder on the Shaker Head in the first 30 minutes or so, we had a small limit by dark and culled one time. We knew we needed to upgrade to be in contention for a check. At dark Rob and I started to cover some water with the black/blue spinner bait. At about 9:15 I caught a nice 4.5 pounder, it was barely hooked so we were lucky to get it in the boat. We had a few more short fish and finished the tournament with 10.06 pounds for 3 fish limit. The winning weight was just over 11 pounds with second and third place just ounces ahead of Rob and me. It was a lot of fun, the fish were not constantly biting, but it was consistent enough that we felt good about our game plan. We just needed that 3rd big one to cull out a small keeper. The spook and the spinner bait are good baits to go after some big ones so we felt good about getting that kicker, it just did not come tonight.
