Fishing Notes

Guys the numbers above are based on two days!!! Well Ben and i got after it again this weekend!! fishing the 2 day IBFFA tourney out of Red Oak. Saturday was awesome we set out targeting big rock deep on main lake points.Ben threw the big Jig and i threw a shaky head with a big worm on it. Saturday we were able to get 5 good ones by about 9 o’clock. All were schooled up on one point. After overstaying our welcome on
that point we just point hopped from point to point catching good fish, alot of 3 pounders on every point. We just ran our game plan all the way to the dam and we ended up with 19.19 pounds after day one, a pound off the lead. On Sunday we planned on the same thing. On this morning though it was overcast and we were catching alot of small keepers. We had a small limit by 9:30 but we knew we had to figure something else out. We made a big move on the lake traveling closer to the dam area. At this time the sun came out and we think these fish went back deep were we thought they should be. Around 11:00 we started whacking big fish again!!! it was a sigh of relief for we were getting a little nervous out there. We ended up culling all of our small keepers for some way bigger heads!! i did lose a giant though!! only fish we lost all weekend, but guys thats fishing. We ended up with 21.80 pounds on day two of the tourney, and also won big fish of the tourney!! we fell short of the win by a pound and took second. A couple guys who never really fish this lake whacked 20.40 on day one and 21.90 on day two. It was pretty hard to swallow not winning with such a big weight for two days, but hey thats fishing. We had a blast this weekend. We have been able to place 2nd twice and 3rd once in the past three weeks. We are very proud!! would just love to get that W!!!
