Fishing Notes

I have been off the lake the past couple of weeks, nursing some medical procedures.

What I have heard from most anglers is that the bass fishing has really sucked.

This is reflected in the tournament results from this past weekend, other than Jim Dill and Dan Zander in the Warrior William tournament with 17 pounds, the weights have been dismal.

You can see tournament results and fishing notes Tournament Results even the Big Bass Bash had the smallest winning fish in the past five years.

Bass continue to be caught on sides and fronts of docks, some under the docks with jig, worm and creature baits.

Top water is also catching bass on main lake bluff ledges and bottom baits.

Brush Pile bite is fair but not great, mostly mid way to backs of coves in 6′-12′ of water.

There have also been reports of quality fish being caught deep, 15′-25′ feet of water on bigger jigs and shaky heads on main lake and secondary points.

Square bill and chatter baits seem to working a bit around shallow water and up the river.

No real pattern and no specific area of the lake seems to be predictable.

The water level has stabilized but we continue to have this high barometric pressure, which seems to shut down the bite a bit.  Today we had lower pressure and should continue the next couple of days, which should get the bass more aggressive and closer to the banks.

We will have some rain this week, hopefully, that will get the fish in the mood to bite.

Your Reports – Give Away

As I recover from some of my recent medical procedures, nothing serious hope to be back on the lake in next week or so.
