Fishing Notes

I fished much of Saturday and then again Sunday morning. I started Saturday in the very back of a major cove and worked out to the last major secondary point. The point resulted in my best action of the weekend. The first cast on the point produced a 3.5 pounder. I then caught fish on the next 6 casts or so there. The problem was that they got smaller and no more keepers. This point had good brush and a lot of bait around. My bites were in 10′ out to about 20′. Bites occured on the bottom both on the jig and Hoo Daddy Jr. After catching short fish after short fish, I left that spot searching for bigger bites. I tried repeating this pattern on a few other similar points and had more success. However, all fish on the other similar locations were also small fish. I kept thinking this would produce some quality fish, but that was apparently a small fish pattern. I also caught some fish in isolated deep brush piles, but they too were small. I was never able to get anything going on shallow docks. I ended with 2 more keepers in the 2.5 lb range. Those fish came from well inside dock slips on larger condo docks; also in the 10′ out to 20′ range. So all in all pretty decent for numbers, but quality was not in the cards.
