Fishing Notes |

After not having much success with cold water in the past, yesterday was a different day. I tried experimenting with the jerkbait periodically, but I got bit on the jig early and stayed with it much of the day. I found a very consistent pattern on several different secondary points. Feeling the rocks out off the bank was a key. On these points I tried to keep the boat in about 20 ft of water and slowly drug the jig through the rocks, with the occasional pause and let it sit. The bites came 1/3 to 1/2 way back to the boat usually while the jig was sitting still. My wife and kids joined me for a couple hours in the afternoon. The kids practiced casting the new rods/reels Santa brought them for Christmas. Dad was fortunate enough to hook up a few times and have them land the bass. They had a great time and were undeterred by the cold conditions. |
