I went scouting the upper Niangua. Half bass half looking for walleye well past ha ha Tonka. Pretty poor in general but I was covering water. Did tie into a few fish which is good since so much of the lake has been frozen lately. |
Fishing Notes |
---|
Did not catch any walleye. I have caught some there before but I wasn’t holding my breath. Did catch a big gar yesterday. Which is probably the earliest in the year I have ever caught one. Did catch a big bass close to 5lbs. (self bad pic).Haven’t caught a big bass in months it feels like. I’m sure I could have slowed down and caught a couple more fish but I was on a mission to check things out. Obviously things need to start warming up. In fact this weekend and next week the forecast is much better. upper 40’s to 60’s wahoo!! As of this morning we just got another thin blanket of snow. I also posted a pic of some crappie I have been catching. Deep brushpiles are holding some fish for a little while longer. Vertical fishing in the winter can’t be beat for consistency. The lake has dropped a ton lately. Almost every boat ramp is a pain to use right now except the main ones. They can’t pull it down too much more. Ice in the back of the coves has been breaking up considerably. Soon enough these fish will be really moving into their pre-spawn locations. |
