Fishing Notes

Fished Saturday morning from 7:30 – 12:30 and again Sunday morning from 7-9. Fished from the 51 MM to the 46 MM. Water cleared up a little bit in the bigger coves/creeks on Saturday – seemed to be dirty this morning.

Overcast conditions really helped Saturday. Almost all of my bites came extremely shallow or along seawalls. Got my first keeper and several blowups and short strikes on the buzzbait in muddy water. As I got into some of the bigger coves and the water cleared up, switched to a spook and caught the majority of my keepers. Caught 3 that went between 15 and 16.5″. Lost a 4-5# fish on a spook – broke my line half way back to the boat. Also had a huge blowup shallow that never got hooked. Would’ve really like to have those two. Caught several other – including a keeper – on a football jig on a secondary point in about 5′ of water. Didn’t throw the jig much.

Caught one 20.5″ – 4+ this morning on a spook under a dock walkway behind cables on a secondary point off a seawall. Had two others take a buzzbait under without getting hooked.

Had 17 or 18 or bites in 7 hours – 14 or 15 of them on spooks or buzzbaits, 3 on the football jig. Had a hard time getting them hooked though.
