Fishing Notes

Put in at the Gravois ramp about 8 this morning. Started in the upper end around some seawalls & log jambs in the dirty water – mainly with topwater. Didn’t have a bite for about 2 hours.

Moved down the lake towards Soap Creek and got on a main lake point that had a little sweet spot on it – caught 7 or 8 here with our first four keepers. Caught the 4+ pounder here about lunch on the shakey head worm. Fished the points inside of Soap Creek without much luck. The few fish we caught on the spook and swimbait shallow were all smaller fish.

Hit another main lake point with a rocky ledge running out that held another group of fish as well. One more main lake point in the mid – Gravois produced another small group of fish. Went back to our first point on the way back to the ramp and caught two more keepers – one that went about 3 1/4 around 3:30.

All of the keepers came on main lake points, in 15′-20′, either on ledges or chunky little spots on the points. Most were on the shakey head with a few on the football jig. Rained about 3 hours this afternoon – but that didn’t really seem to change anything.

Caught a lot of 14″ fish – but our best 5 keepers went a little over 14 pounds.
