Fishing Notes

I had 2 trips today. First trip total beginners, Second trip was a tournament angler

Two drastically different trips today. This morning’s trip was ok but I expected more. We fished main lake docks and there just wasn’t as many fish as I was wanting. My customers were still very happy as they usually don’t catch much of anything when they go out. They learned some new baits/techniques and had fun. Fishing artificial lures is challenging and I think it was all kind of new to them. Or maybe they have tried a few in the past but didn’t know what/how/when to use them. It was a good experience.

My second trip is a repeat customer/friend Grant Akers. He’s a big BassingBob addict. He dove head first into bass fishing a few years ago and is ate up with it now.  So my game plan with him was totally different. We started off shallow in the back of a creek and right away we had 2 keepers on a chatterbait. I was a bit surprized. Then wacked a bunch of fish on 3 shallow docks. We had a limit in the first hour. One dock in particular was on fire for some reason. Grant’s fishing line broke on a hook set (happens around the rough stuff) only to catch that same fish 20 minutes later. The fish had swallowed the Crock-O-Gator gator lock jig head so deep that we still left it in there but we could see it was for sure Grant’s jig head and plastic creature bait. It was so cool. After that creek it slowed up for us but still caught a couple good tournament fish swimming jigs around docks. Good day considering it was like 100 degrees with the heat index.

I have this Thursday, Friday and Sunday open if anyone wants to get on the water. Crappie or bass
