Week Ending June 21, 2013

Post spawn fish continue to caught off bluff ends and points.   The bass have moved from their spawning areas to thier post spawn feeding areas.   Good quality fish in the 3, 4, 5 and 6 pound range are feeding up after the spawn on long points, deep main lake points and bluff ends.   With the dam running heavy generation throughout the week, the fish are holding close to the main river channels just waiting for a meal to be swept past them.   These quality fish are being caught in 10'-35' of water on the main lake near the channel.

The water temperatures are rising around the lake from the upper 70's to the mid 80's as high as 87 degrees in some areas.   Fish can be caught on the points and bluff ends on heavy football jigs, 3/4oz to 1 1/4oz jigs in varying colors.  Texas Craw, Green Pumpkin/Blue trailers, Jigs with brown blue and purple colors are good, such as those made by Crock-o-Gator Bait Company.  In addition to jigs, keeper bass are biting on heavy shaky heads 5/8 oz. rigged with 6'' green pumpkin Sencos, Yum Dingers and similar plastics and trick worms on the shaky head have also produced.   This week it took 23+ pounds to win 3.5 hour evening tournaments on Lake of the Ozarks, thats a lot of heavy fish in a short period of time.   Fisherman reported catching fish in the evening on texas rigged 10" worms and brush hogs as well as with jigs.    The coming week should be much the same as this past week, fish will be on main channel points, bluff ends and bluff cuts.    Go see Wayne Fitzpatrick at Fitz Fishing Tackle and Supplies in Osage Beach, have Wayne hook you up with some Crock-o-Gator Jigs and Shaky Heads and the trailers and worms in the colors that are working.  If you have not been to the lake fishing for a while, give Juck Uxa of Jacks Guide Service a call at 573-434-2570, www.fishinglakeoftheozarks.com.  In a 4 hour guide trip, you will catch bass and Jack will not only put you on the fish pattern that is going on the days you will be at the lake but he will also teach and show you exactly how to catch em.    Good Fishing!!!
