Fishing Report For Week Ending July 11, 2014
Friday, July 11, 2014
The bass are in there summertime patterns. The lake level has been 659.6 throughout most of the week. There was little current most of the week as Ameren has not been releasing much water. The best bite continues to be in the 15-25 feet of water range on and around main lake points and secondary points. The best cover the bass have been caught in are brush piles in these areas. Also look for large busted rock in the 15-25 foot range as the bass will be holding on this type structure. This pattern is true through most areas of the lake. There have been reports up the river above the 70MM of nice keeper bass caught on the docks along the river channel. Areas around condo docks will hold fish year round and bass are still being caught in these areas
The early morning bite continues to be good in low light conditions. The bass are being caught on the side and between docks on topwater baits, plastic worms, shaky heads and Chompers.
The nighttime fishing has continued to be very good as the winning weights in the tournaments continue to be in the high teens. This is a good time to get out and enjoy your time fishing without all the boating pressure. The bass are still be caught on the deeper points, brush piles, docks with brush piles and occasionally a few bass coming up shallow to feed along the bank.
The baits of choice this time of year are, Crock-O-Gator ¾ or 1 oz football jigs and shakerheads, Texas rigged worms, shakyheads with large finesse, power worms or senkos, deep diving crankbaits, Chompers. Also Crock-O-Gator has a new Swamp Bug Senior available that a co-angler in and BFL event recently won using.
