Local Angler Lance Burris Finishes 5th in the First Bassmaster Kayak Classic

Local Angler Lance Burris was able to pull away with a 5th place finish in the Inaugural Bassmaster Kayak Classic last week! The Inaugural event was held in conjunction with the 50th Edition of the Bassmaster Classic Ceremony held in Birmingham Alabama. While the regular Classic event was held on Lake Guntersville, the Kayak Anglers took to the water nearby on Lake Logan Martin.

In kayak tournaments, anglers are able to launch their kayak anywhere on the designated tournament lake, with lines in at a designated tournament time. Instead of keeping bass in a live-well like regular bass tournaments, kayak anglers use a photo measuring system to keep track of the total length of their best five fish.

Lake of the Ozark’s native Lance Burris was able to pull off a fifth place finish out of 222 Anglers in this year’s inaugural event. Measuring in an impressive 84 1/4 Inches, Lance was just 3 1/2 inches shy of the victory.
