Tournament Notes

Today the weather was winter like with wind chill temps in the low 20’s at take off with a stiff southeast wind and overcast. The sun never popped out all day and wind became stronger as the day progressed. The fisherman reported a good stick bait bite today on points, secondary points and creek channel banks with the wind hitting directly on them. Most fish were caught in 4′-15′ of water working the stick bait slow and slowly falling. The stick bait was also successful today over 10′-14′ brush piles. Some fisherman reported a good bite on the jig and the Chompers Skirted Twin Tail Grub. While most of the big bags today came from the Gravois is to the dam, there was also a good bite reported around the toll bridge area and the Hurricane Deck bridge area. The bite was good today, there were 30 limits weighed in today out of 59 boats and the it took 17.99 pounds to get a check with 10 places paid.

Today we also awarded the Bassing Bob Winter Bass Challenge Cup. The championship team of Sheldon Gentry and Greg West weighed a total of 56.73 pounds for their best 3 tournaments out of 4 to win the championship. Sheldon and Greg had a consistent performance this winter with t3 tournament weights of 19.73, 16.22 and 20.78 pounds, their first tournament weight was anchored by an 8.24 pounder caught on a Chompers Skirted Twin Tail Grub. Congratulations Sheldon and Greg for besting a very tough field of Lake of the Ozarks Anglers and for your consistent performance in varying winter conditions.
