Today 130 boats took off from Drake Harbor at the 90mm of Lake of the Ozarks in the fog of the river. The fisherman spread out all over Lake of the Ozarks, some making an hour plus run toward the lower end of the lake, the horseshoe bend area, the glaize, tan tara, the gravois and the niaguas. The water generation which has been producing a good bite this past week was shut down that main lake bite on the Osage shut down as well from its previous pattern of the fish sitting on the edges of the current. Those that made adjustments to find those fish did well, finding them behind docks just inside the main lake or suspended over 30-50 feet of water. There several patterns that produced good bites today including the backs of creeks and shallow wood, the backs of docks fishing for bass hanging around the blue gill spawn, brush piles in 12′-20′ of water and deep fish suspended on points. The baits that produced big bags included jigs, swim baits, creature baits, crank baits and the spoon. The weights were a bit down from recent tournaments, likely due to the overnight change in the current. I took 18.6 pounds to win and took only 13.03 to cash a check for the boaters. On the co-angler side, Jason Sloan had a great sack of fish, 17.13 pounds and 7.06 cashed a check. |
