Today the MP Regiment Week Bass Tournament had 21 teams take off out of PB2 at 7:00AM and weighed in at 2:30. The conditions have changed quite a bit here at Lake of the Ozarks with overcast skies, low pressure, good wind and cooler temperatures. However for the most part the bite has remained the same with a few changes due to the weather. The winning team reported catching their bass working a jig along the side of docks and bouncing a jig over dock braces. The fish seemed to be suspended under those braces. Most teams reported catching their fish on the bottom with a jig and a 10″ worm. One of the top teams reported catching some big ones on a spinner bait, taking advantage of the wind. Fish were caught from 4′ of water to 15′ of water. Big bites were reported to come off wood midway to the back of creeks and deep midway to the backs of creeks. This was an awesome tournament with a ton of credit going to Sgt. Gary Homer who has spent countless hours organizing. This is the first time in 17 years they have included a bass tournament for their Regiment Week and first year on Lake of the Ozarks. Next year they hope to build this tournament bigger here at Lake of the Ozarks. While the details are not yet announced, the tournament may be open to all or a team of an active/retired military person with a partner. During the week, in October on Lake of the Ozarks should become a very big tournament. See all photos from take off to weigh in under Photos on BassingBob.com. |
