Today was a tough bite for some of the very best Missouri Anglers competing in the Webb Outdoors Solo Elite Championship on Lake of the Ozarks. While the top bag was just under 20#s, it only takes 11.72 pounds to be in the top 10. The fisherman are tight lipped about their catch today considering they have another day to fish and after tomorrow a cut to the top 10 to fish Sunday. From some of the non tournament fisherman I have talked to that have caught big fish late this week and today, you can catch some good ones up the river fishing dock shade and chasing wind mid way the backs of creeks flipping docks and fishing shallow brush or brush on the shady side of dock with bottom baits and top water baits. That bite seems to be consistent but hit or miss throughout the lake. There is a top water bite coming one but it is also hit or miss chasing shade and around docks. Bait fish also seem to be a key regardless of fishing shallow or off shore structure. This is a great field of fisherman, they will figure out the quality bite, if they did not today they will tomorrow. But overall the bite has been tough for big ones recently on Lake of the Ozarks. |
