Today was the first day of 3 days of fishing for 4 FLW Divisions (Okie, Great Lakes, Hoosier and Cowboy) that fished all year to qualify for the regional tournament today on Lake of the Ozarks. The top 40 boaters and top 40 co-anglers from each division qualified, there will be a cut tomorrow to 12 boaters and co-anglers, who will fish n Saturday to make the top 6, which will qualify them to fish the FLW All-American championship. The bite on LOZ is a bit off, while the leader has 21+ pounds which is a great weight right now here, the 12th place finisher today had 14.15 pounds, which is low for this lake and the number of quality fisherman. While most anglers were pretty tight lipped about the baits, patterns and area of the lake they caught them today, due to fishing another day tomorrow to try to make the top 12, some fisherman reported catching quality fish on top water baits, the Crock-o-Gator Head Knocker Buzz Bait in Black n Gold and the Bone colored Whopper Plopper. Others that reported baits that caught big ones were the 1/2-3/4 oz jig and shaky head with magnum trick worm in deep water, points, secondary points and brush piles. |
